I speak fluent Japanese and grew up in Japan as a child. Ichiban was run and operated by some elder Japanese women, and Mama-san was a elder Japanese lady. There have been other restaurants in Wichita in the past that were actual Japanese. One of those places is Yokohama Remen Joint. There are very few places in Wichita that actually have at least one person in the restaurant that is Japanese. I’m sure the food tastes good but using a Japanese name to deceive people into thinking that the food is Japanese is too good. Most of the places with a Japanese name for the restaurant does not have Japanese there at all. Most of the population in Wichita has no idea about what Japanese food is and how it is to taste. The yakisoba and the fried rice hopefully have a Japanese taste. Miyagi Japanese Grill but, in looking at the menu, this is another restaurant using a Japanese name to sell more Chinese food. Glad to see that another oriental restaurant opened up in Wichita. That’s generally a good recipe for success from any quick-service establishment. The food was good, the portions sizes were massive and everything was quick and convenient. Joseph hospital, so I can see this place being quite the success. There aren’t too many quick-service Japanese restaurants in that area of town near St. It was like small fried chicken chunks caked in their Bangkok sauce which was a little spicy, very tangy and sweet but most importantly, delicious. It included thick chunks of beef to fill you up and was so buttery you could feel your heart pounding. The steamed wasabi shumai dumplings filled with pork and chicken and the kaki fry crispy fried oysters topped with bread crumbs are appetizers that are sure to fire-up your taste buds. I loved the texture of the fried rice which wasn’t too crispy and not too mushy as some places. Miyagi, in McLean, crafts sumptuous and fresh Japanese cuisine with passion and knowhow in its charming restaurant. My personal favorites were the beef fried rice. The kids ate up the dumplings and crab rangoon within minutes of its arrival. The yakisoba and fried rice dishes were being devoured by everyone. People were raving about the beef options. There wasn’t a single complaint at the house. It was big enough spread to feed 14 people. We had all of the appetizers (crab rangoon, egg rolls, dumplings), different fried rice options which included no meat, chicken and beef, Yakisoba with no meat, chicken, and beef options, crispy chicken tossed in their Bangkok sauce, and chicken tenders. Eleven items were ordered and only took them roughly 15 minutes to prepare it was fast. Instead of asking everyone what they wanted, I decided to order essentially the entire menu. We happened to be hosting some friends over that afternoon, so I was tasked with feeding everybody. It’s simple and consists of crab rangoon, egg rolls, dumplings all which come fried, yakisoba, fried rice, chicken tenders and crispy chicken which was essentially small boneless chicken chunks.

Just make sure you check the hours before you go and as the sign on the door says "Wait times may be longer than you think!". If you've some free time in the bellaire area and want some quality sushi this is the place to visit. I recommend it to anyone who goes and have made believers of some of my friends. It actually had a little kick unlike most that just taste creamy. They definitely do not skimp on the portion sizes and it was so delicious. I had read some reviews suggesting the spicy chopped scallops and was so pleased when two GIANT pieces of chopped scallop gunkanmaki arrived. Each piece was fresh and I never had any complaints. The lady that took my order was extremely nice and was always checking in on all the tables during her trips to and from the kitchen, but sometimes you may need to flag her down as she's managing the floor all on her own! I ordered a lunch special chirashi and it was generous in rice and fish slices. I arrived on a saturday for lunch, and had to wait a little for a table. The restaurant is small (I believe last I counted it was about 10 tables, maybe less!), but kept clean. You WILL have to budget some time if you plan on coming to dine during lunch/dinner. Like some reviews have said, this is a very small business, essentially run by 2 people. BUT if you take the time to try it out, you will not be disappointed. Tucked away under a sign that just says "Sushi" you'd probably glance and move on. Sushi Miyagi is the most unassuming sushi place you'll ever find.
